New Honda Civic facelift revealed; India launch in early 2019

2019 Honda Civic Sedan And Coupe

Pricing hasn't been announced yet for the refreshed 2019 Civic models.

At the back, there's now a chrome accent on the lower rear bumper of the Sedan and new wheel designs for both two- and four-door models - including larger 18-inch rims on the Touring trim in the US.

For the United States, the 2019 model year Civic sedan and coupe models gain a standard piano black winged grille, and revised halogen and LED headlight units.

Big changes are happening to one of America's favorite small cars. This aside, there are expected to be no changes to the Civic's interior. For 2019, Honda's given the Civic Sedan and Coupe a bit more visual and sporty flair, and some very important safety technology to keep this all-star selling strongly. There are tweaks to the front and rear bumpers, as well as the grille. The sedan differs from the coupe through the rear decklid spoiler plus the splitter-style rear bumper with a chrome-tipped polygonal exhaust inspired by the Civic Si.

For the Indian market, the 2019 Honda Civic will get a 1.6-liter diesel engine and a 1.8-liter i-VTEC petrol engine. That's a shame for buyers looking for some even more affordable performance, but those more interested in looks and tech will likely be satisfied. Sport trims also get an updated 7-inch Display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The sedan (as well as the coupé body style offered in North America) gain what Honda terms "evolutionary" styling updates.

Also standard on the Civic facelift is Honda's Sensing suite of safety features, which includes a collision warning and mitigation system with automatic braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and more. The 2019 Civic goes on sale later this year.
