On July 18, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman had asked for more time to appear before the NAB, citing unavailibility due to campaigning for general elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued notifications to newly-elected members of the national and provincial assemblies, according to a statement by the electoral body. The ECP has withheld notification declaring victory of PTI senior leader Pervez Khattak from NA-25 Nowshera after beating Hastam Khan Khattak.

"Imran Khan has always been against security protocols and VIP culture", Khan's spokesperson Naeemul Haq said."But it's the government that gave him the PM's protocol".

Pakistan's former cricket hero Imran Khan's party has officially nominated him as its candidate for the country's next prime minister, a party official said on Monday. He is expected to take oath for the post on August 14 or 15.

Notification of victory from Islamabad was withheld for a case related to violation of election code of conduct against Mr Khan.

The Lahore High Court stayed the notification in a case filed by PTI's Abid Sher Ali.

Imran said a committee would be set up to monitor the performance of the ministers and chief minister.

Claiming that the PTI is now in the clear to form government in the Centre, Chaudhry said, "PTI's seat tally in the National Assembly currently stands at 125 after the inclusion of independents".

Polls were delayed on two seats of the National Assembly and six of provincial assemblies.

The Pakistan People's Party of former president Asif Zardari won 43 seats.

However, Qureshi said that the PTI has the required votes to form a government, drawing on support from independents and coalition partners.
