Horoscope for Aug. 11, 2018

Last solar eclipse of 2018 on 11th

In case of a total solar eclipse, the Moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, while completely blocking out sunlight from reaching the Earth. A total solar eclipse - like the one that took place on August 21, 2017 - occurs when the disk of the moon blocks 100% of the sun.

After July's complete solar eclipse, sky-watchers are now getting ready to witness the partial solar eclipse or surya grahan today.

According to timeanddate.com, this will be the last eclipse - both solar and lunar - to be witnessed this year. It will take place on Saturday, August 11. Even if the eclipse is partial, stargazers could be exposed to undue radiation of ultraviolet or infrared light.

Where can you see it?

The first solar eclipse of 2018 happened in the beginning of the year on February 15 while the second solar eclipse occurred on July 13. Also, it turns dark during a solar eclipse as the Sun gets blocked.

There are various interesting facts about the solar eclipse which you should know. As per the suggestions of the map, partial solar eclipse 2018 will be seen over North Pole and eastern parts of Siberia. You'll have to wait until January 21, 2019 for the next eclipse.

Third and last solar eclipse of the current year will be on August 11.

The solar eclipse will be visible in Russian Federation, northern parts of China, Mongolia, Northern Europe and northern Canada as well as the Arctic Ocean.

Other parts of the world that will have views of the partial solar eclipse, albeit a much smaller version of it, include Harbin, China, Nuuk, Greenland and Seoul, South Korea.

Just like during the August 2017 total solar eclipse, you will need special eclipse glasses to get the best viewing experience of the partial eclipse to protect your eyes. Because the moon's orbit is tilted, it does not always block the sun as it circles the Earth each month. So that's two eclipses, one solar and one lunar, linked by the moon's orbit.

One of the easiest and most cost effective ways to view the eclipse is to make a pinhole camera at home to safely watch the eclipse.
