Former Trump aide hits Cohen over recording private conversations

US president says did not know of 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russians

As recently as a few weeks ago, however, Giuliani said, "I do not expect that Michael Cohen is going to lie", during an interview with CNN's Dana Bash in response to a question about whether he thought Cohen will flip.

First, CNN obtained a recording of a conversation between Cohen and Trump from 2016 discussing how they would buy the rights to a Playboy model's story about an alleged affair.

"The man is a pathological manipulator, liar", Giuliani said.

Nunberg said during his time with Trump's campaign, he had known Cohen as Trump's loyal "fixer" and was surprised the president's longtime ally would release such information.

Former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg on Sunday said that he is more inclined to believe President Trump and Donald Trump Jr. over any assertions from Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen about the June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower.

Wallace acknowledged that Cohen's claim suggests that Trump lied about what he knew about the meeting, but he seemed to write off the possibility that the White House will face problematic new questions about the president's connection to Russian Federation.

"I think the president is frustrated because he's got a great economic plan going", said Scaramucci.

Legal experts told Business Insider last week that they found it freakish that Cohen felt the need to record a conversation with Trump, and some said they had never heard of an attorney secretly recording a client.

He similarly told ABC News in early July, "I have no concerns that Michael Cohen is going to do anything but tell the truth".

"We were counting delegates and we wanted to make sure there wasn't some kind of insurrection, so there was a massive amount of activity around that, very, very little activity away from that", said Scaramucci.

"He expressly waived attorney client privilege last week and repeatedly and inaccurately - as proven by the tape - talked and talked about the recording, forfeiting all confidentiality", Davis said.

He also called raids of Cohen's home, office and hotel room earlier this year "inconceivable" and "almost unheard of".

And that could mean the president knew that Russian Federation was trying to help get him elected.

But in May, the committee released more than 1,800 pages of testimony from Donald Trump Jr. and others who were present for the 2016 Trump Tower meeting. He once said that he would "take a bullet" for Trump.

Giuliani also said that they've hired multiple experts to review and analyze the recordings of conversations between Cohen and Trump.

"No defense lawyer would say that", Goldberg said.
