Former Real Madrid player, Ronaldo rushed to hospital

Ronaldo health latest: Brazil legend in Ibiza hospital with pneumonia | Daily Star

One of the best footballers of all time, Ronaldo, is in hospital after coming down with a bout of pneumonia while on holiday.

The former footballer, Ronaldo Nazário de Lima, was admitted into the Hospital de Can Misses in Ibiza last Friday.

The two-time World Cup champion reportedly asked for a transfer to a private health facility identified as Clinica Nuestra Señora del Rosario later that night before being taken to intensive care.

He's believed to be in intensive care but further reports claim he's making good progress according to Mirror.

Ronaldo, regarded as one of the world's best-ever players, owns a house in Ibiza and is a regular visitor to the party island, which has always been hugely popular with Brits.

This story will be updated when more information on Ronaldo's condition is known.

He scored 62 goals in 98 appearances for his country and played for some of the top clubs in Europe.

He is no stranger to illness, however. Tissue swells, and it can cause coughing and breathing difficulties.

In his later years he battled with overweight because of a thyroid problem.

During his glittering career Ronaldo won the FIFA World Player of the Year award three times, in 1996, 1997, and 2002.

During his career, the World Cup victor also played for Cruzeiro, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Corinthians.

Here's hoping that he can make a speedy recovery.
