Staff at the home in northern Germany raised the alarm after the men went missing on Friday night.

According to a report from German global broadcaster Deutsche Welle, two elderly men fled a nursing home on Friday to attend the world's largest heavy metal festival, Wacken Open Air.

Authorities located the two metalheads around 3AM at Wacken Open Air, a festival that is must-attend for all die-hard heavy metal fans.

A local officer, Merle Neufeld, said: "Both were disoriented and apathetic".

After some prodding, the men were taken back to the nursing home via a patrol vehicle and a taxi.

If Hollywood's not already scrambling to turn this story into a movie they've got absolute rocks in their heads, we tell you.

A police spokesperson remarked, rather nonchalantly, that the men "obviously liked the metal festival" which is a statement that is likely to rank in the higher echelons of the Great Ders of History. "The care home quickly organised return transport after police picked them up".

A sell out crowd of more than 75,000 people was expected for the four-day festival, the 29th time the legendary event has been held.

Headliners this year included Judas Priest, Dimmu Borgir, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gojira and Children of Bodom.

Police praised revelers this year for good behaviour with little interference needed - it looks to me like everyone saw this pair and chose to respect their elders.
