Claude Puel explains Harry Maguire's reaction to non transfer

Rio Ferdinand has advised Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Coming from Man City to Leicester and playing against Man United I think the City fans are going to support us in that game.

"We want to keep our best players for the squad and for the season, we want to keep a good ambition". He is our best player.

"Sometimes we were unlucky with the possibilities to score in different moves".

"He is a Leicester player, he wants to play for Leicester".

When asked whether a world-record bid for a defender, exceeding the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk, would tempt Leicester, Puel retained his stance.

"We've learnt from the past that, if he takes too many players on like he did at Chelsea and Real Madrid, then there's only one thing that will happen".

"When you look at Mourinho when he first came into the Premier League, he was happy, he was cheeky, he was smiley, he was arrogant in a good way", he said on the BBC One programme.

When that was put to Puel, he said: 'We will see what happens in his future but I am happy to keep Harry and happy with his attitude.

"For us it (a Maguire transfer) is not possible".

"It's a good feeling, it was the first time last season I came to a club in the middle of the season without preparation or pre-season friendly games to prepare something", he added. "It is not serious".

Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has acknowledged that he must target an improved season at the King Power Stadium.

However, the greatest buzz around a transfer was the potential deal for Leicester City and England centre back Harry Maguire.

It was too little too late for Leicester but Puel felt his side deserved more from their trip to Manchester, where James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira and Rachid Ghezzal debuted.

"He has made a big contribution to Dinamo Zagreb over the last three years and has also benefited from experiencing European football". I am happy with the squad and the transfer window.
