Trump says Larry Kudlow suffers a heart attack

Larry Kudlow had heart attack, Donald Trump says

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (Jun 12) tweeted that his top economic advisor had suffered a heart attack.

Trump tweets that, "Our Great Larry Kudlow, who has been working so hard on trade and the economy, has just suffered a heart attack". "He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center", Mr. Trump wrote.

It was not immediately known when Kudlow suffered the heart attack or what his condition was. "He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center". Kudlow's wife, Judy Pond, told the Washington Post late Monday night that "he's doing fine".

Mr. Trump hired him in April to replace Gary Cohn as the head of the National Economic Council, reportedly because he enjoyed Mr. Kudlow's combative television appearances.

Over the weekend, Kudlow waded into a tense back-and-forth between Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after the Group of Seven gathering of the world's major industrial nations in Canada's Quebec province.

Kudlow's description of events was contested by reporters who covered Trudeau's news conference.

For five years before his White House appointment in March, Kudlow hosted a show on CNBC on business and politics, and he's worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. Before joining the White House, he had vigorously opposed the protectionist trade agenda that Trump promoted, but he became a forceful advocate for Trump's policies since joining the administration.
