Kim Kardashian visiting Alice Johnson in Memphis

Joint appearance Kardashian and Johnson are scheduled to appear on NBC's Today show together this Thursday June 14

This will be the first time the KKW beauty mogul will meet with Johnson, but the 63-year-old said that she first heard the news of her commutation from Kardashian.

The pair met for the first time just ahead of their Today show interview with Hoda Kotb, which aired on Thursday morning.

While we were outside Kardashian was showing Johnson the ropes on snapchat having fun with filters and at one-point Kardashian said love you Alice and Alice said love you Kim.

The reality star expressed her gratitude to the president in a tweet which read, "Best news ever!"

"We had been in talks and working on this for seven months", said Kardashian. And it wasn't an instant thing.

The strategy, in Kardashian's telling, was pointed.

The reality TV star's sister, Khloe Kardashian, appeared in 2009 on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice", then hosted by Trump, but got the boot halfway through the season.

Making her case Kim helped convince President Trump why he should commute the 63-year-old non-violent drug offender after a meeting with POTUS and White House adviser Jared Kushner in separate meetings back on May 30

"Alice is just the beginning", Kardashian West said.

Kardashian West said her mission started with a called to Ivanka Trump to plead Johnson's case and also to ask her for a meeting with her father.

The Rev. Dr. Darrell Scott believes that President Donald Trump will be considered one of the "greatest civil rights presidents in modern history". "It was overwhelming in the most incredible way". "I knew that she would have understood Alice, and she immediately was so receptive and so great". She added that Trump, with whom she has clashed politically, "had compassion for her right away; he felt like it was the right thing to do".

After commuting Johnson's life sentence and granting a posthumous pardon to boxing's first black heavyweight champion, Jack Johnson, at the request of actor Sylvester Stallone, Trump invited professional athletes with friends behind bars to bring those cases to his attention as well.

"When she said that [I could go home], I went into full-fledged pentacostal holy dance", Johnson said. "I've lived it. I've walked with 'em".

Kardashian West admitted that some in her inner circle weren't hot on the idea of her meeting with Trump.

The president says he is considering a long list of other clemency actions, including for former IL governor Rod Blagojevich, who is serving 14 years in prison for corruption, and celebrity homemaker Martha Stewart, who served about five months for insider financial trading.
