Footage from the event shows United States president and the North Korean leader preparing to take their seats on opposite sides of a dining room table at the Capella Hotel on the resort island of Sentosa.

Just before Trump addressed reporters in Singapore after his historic meeting with Kim, journalists were shown a video, first in Korean, then in English.

As per the Guardian, amid the handshakes and photo ops, Trump spoke of the "very comprehensive" agreement that would "take care of a very big and very risky problem for the world".

Soon after Trump and Kim signed a "comprehensive" document promising to end seven decades of hostilities between the two countries, the External Affairs Ministry said India supports all efforts to bring about peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and diplomacy. "If this were really an "Avengers" movie trailer, no one would believe it, because what we're seeing is "The Donald" versus 'Rocket Man, ' 'Batman vs. Superman'".

According to the menu, which was provided by the White House, Trump and Kim Jong-un feasted on prawns, fresh octopus and Korean stuffed cucumber to start, and were fed beef short ribs, sweet and sour pork with fried rice and soy-braised cod fish for the main course.

This is not the first time Trump has made references to Kim's weight.

In Seoul, South Korean President Moon Jae-in watched live on television, telling his ministers, he "could hardly sleep last night".

Among those joining the leaders on the USA side were Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, White House chief of staff John Kelly and national security adviser John Bolton.

The two leaders will be meeting to talk about the nuclear disarmament of North Korea and establishing a framework for peace in East Asia.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the meeting was of great significance, and something China long called for.
