Arsenal deal for Sampdoria's Lucas Torreira yet to be finalised

Yacine Adli

Paris Saint-Germain youngster Yacine Adli is expected to turn down Arsenal after being persuaded by PSG sporting director Antero Henrique to sign a new contract, Goal understands, though talks between the Emirates side and Sampdoria's Lucas Torreira are ongoing.

Reports in Italy have suggested Arsenal want to negotiate a deal in which they pay slightly more than the release clause but in instalments over several years. There, however, he was moved into midfield by the coach and 2006 World Cup victor Massimo Oddo. The 26-year-old has also been capped by the German national team but was surprisingly left out of Joachim Low's World Cup squad with Manuel Neuer, Andre Ter Stegen, and Kevin Trapp the three keepers selected.

The Gunners have signed Swiss defender Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free from Juventus, while a move for Borussia Dortmund's Greece centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be confirmed in July.

Bernd Leno is thought to be another major target for Emery, with the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper linked with a £22m move.

Arsenal's head of recruitment Sven Mislintat had always been scouting for players in these areas even before Wenger left and there is now firm interest in Totteira, who is 22 and has a £22 million release clause.

Signing the German shot-stopper as well would see all of the Spanish manager's budget spent, albeit with money raised from any player sales likely to be made available for further strengthening.
