UCF football game at Texas scheduled for 2023 canceled

Louisville vs. Alabama Set for 8:00 pm Kickoff on ABC

Said Byrne "That's a good thing for Alabama football it's a good thing for our community for our state and I think our fans will be really excited for those down the road". The Longhorns played at Alabama in 1902, and the Crimson Tide traveled to Austin in 1915.

Texas will bring the Crimson Tide to Austin in 2022.

The two programs last faced each other in the BCS National Championship game at the Rose Bowl after the 2009 season. Depending on how Tom Herman has turned around Texas, these two games could be truly massive.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in a statement: "The Crimson Tide and Longhorns have played a lot of memorable games over the years, and the addition of this home-and-home series will be great for not only our fans, but fans of college football".

As expected, there were multiple opinions about Alabama and Texas scheduling this series. The last meeting on either school's home field was in 1922, when Alabama traveled to Austin. The bowl matchups have taken place in the 1947 Sugar Bowl, 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl, 1964 Orange Bowl, 1972 and 1982 Cotton Bowls and most recently the 2010 Rose Bowl. They didn't meet until 2005, but have met three times over the last 13 years, including a home-and-home series in 2005 and 2006. The Longhorns have a 7-1-1 lead in the all-time series. That game has been canceled.

The schools first reached a two-for-one agreement that called for UCF to host Texas in 2007 to open what was then called Bright House Networks Stadium. Texas and Ohio State have also agreed to move their home-and-home series, which was originally scheduled for 2022-2023, to 2025-2026 in order to make room for the new series.
