The Buttler did it as Royals stay alive in IPL

The win if not assures CSK of a place in the playoffs certainly makes them the second-best team after their opponents to seal a playoff berth.

The Sunrisers could only score 29 runs in the powerplay. It is high time that someone else takes responsibility.

Back from a five-day break, Chennai, meanwhile, ran into the resolve of Rajasthan Royals and Jos Buttler, who single-handedly chased down the 175-run target.

Watson, who had slammed a century earlier in this season at the same venue, notched up his half-century off 31 deliveries with a boundary. He took 35 balls to reach his fifty. However, the bowlers led them down as CSK failed to defend a good total. However, once Watson (57) fell, Raina (2) followed shortly. Shane Watson (39) and Suresh Raina (52) put together an 87-run stand with the Indian reclaiming the Orange Cap for most runs scored in IPL history.

With the departure of the two set batsmen, the tempo slowed down. Dhoni now averages 103.25 in this season and second best in this tally is Dwayne Bravo (66.50).

But it is in their versatile bowling attack, the Sunrisers have been the pick of the teams. Sandeep Sharma was the most economical bowler for Hyderabad.

By the halfway mark, CSK had galloped to 93 for no loss.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson (C ), Shikhar Dhawan, Manish Pandey, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Wriddhiman Saha, Siddharth Kaul, Deepak Hooda, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Shreevats Goswami, Ricky Bhui, Basil Thampi, T Natarajan, Sachin Baby, Bipul Sharma, Mehdi Hasan, Tanmay Agarwal, Alex Hales, Carlos Brathwaite, Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi and Chris Jordan.

At the halfway stage, the Sunrisers were 62 for 1 and with wickets in hand they shifted gears in the second half of their innings to add 115 runs in the last 10 overs. For CSK, Deepak Chahar, who was nursing an injury, has made a comeback to the team, replacing Karn Sharma in the team. The duo constructed their innings well and eluded CSK bowlers their wickets till the 16th over.

So far, batsmen are the major reason behind Chennai's success as they have been in top form this season.

It was a decision that paid off as the home team was able to restrict the visitors for just 179 runs despite some great recovery in the middle overs by Dhawan and Williamson.

For Chennai, their last game at the venue, restricting Royal Challengers Bangalore to a paltry total of 127 for 9 with both Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh conceding less than six runs per over, could provide them with some confidence.
