The student says she saw one girl with blood on her leg as the class evacuated the room.

Assistant principal says shooter at Texas high school "has been arrested and secured", no comment on possible injuries.

Police had confirmed to CBS News that multiple officers were on the scene at Santa Fe High School.

"The situation is active, but has been contained", the Santa Fe Independent School District said in a statement posted to Facebook.

A shooting has been reported at a high school in the southeastern Texas city of Santa Fe, officials said Friday. "We will send out additional information as soon as it is available".

The district didn't provide further details.

"We were all standing (outside), but not even five minutes later, we started hearing gunshots", she said. It's still unclear whether that shooter has been taken into custody, according to a report from ABC13.

The student said she didn't get a good look at the shooter because she was running away. Life Flight was also called to the scene. This is an unconfirmed report.

There was a large law enforcement response to the same school in February when it was placed on lockdown after students and teachers said they heard "popping sounds". Police arrived on campus to investigate but no threat was found.

The report about the shooting came in just before 8 a.m. Friday from the school located about 30 miles southeast of Houston.
