Nigeria Retains 47th Position In Latest FIFA Ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria maintained the 47th spot in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA World rankings released on Thursday.

Only Benin and Botswana - who leaped six places each - made a better upward shift than Kenya during the month that had few worldwide matches resulting in the little movement.

Bafana Bafana stay 15th on the African continent with little movement around them‚ but the upcoming COSAFA Cup tournament in the Limpopo province is an opportunity to score points.

Stuart Baxter's Bafana side recently beat hosts Zambia to win the Four-Nations tournament in March.

Four of the top five African ranked teams have qualified for Russian Federation 2018 with Tunisia retaining their top spot, followed by Senegal, DR Congo, Morocco and Egypt.

DR Congo, ranked third in Africa and 38th in the world, will not be in Russian Federation.

The world ranking is still topped by Germany, the 2017 "Team of the Year", followed by Brazil, Belgium.

There are no movers inside the world's top 47 places, and therefore Africa's top six remain as they were in April.

The next ranking will be published on June 7.

After a busy season last April, Harambee Stars moved two places up to position 111 in the global stage.

The Eagles are also unmoved in the same sixth position they were in last month's rankings.
