Mikel, Moses, Musa, Lokosa… Nigeria's provisional World Cup squad

NFF Names 30 Eagles For World Cup

Nigeria have released the provisional list of the Super Eagles for the summer FIFA World Cup.

Kano Pillars striker, Junior Lokosa and Crotone attacker, Simeon Nwankwo are the surprise inclusions as Malaga's Brown Ideye was dropped.

The Kano Pillars hotshot has scored 18 goals so far in the current Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season and leads the goal chart.

26-year-old Nwankwo gets his maiden global call-up thanks to his fine form in the Italian topflight where he has scored six goals in his last seven outings.

Other forwards that made the list include: Moses Simon, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Nigeria will compete against Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D of the World Cup, playing Croatia on June 16, Iceland on June 22 and Argentina on June 26.

The defenders include: William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Ola Aina, Kenneth Omeruo, Bryan Idowu, Chidozie Awaziem, Abdullahi Shehu, Elderson Echiejile, Tyronne Ebuehi and Stephen Eze.

Rohr selected goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Francis Uzoho of Deportivo La Coruna, Daniel Akpeyi and Dele Ajiboye, meaning no recall for veteran Vincent Enyeama.
