Al Fujairah's manager Diego Maradona reacts after a draw against Khor Fakkan and missing the automatic promotion to the Arabian Gulf League.

Confirming the appointment on social media, Brest tweeted: "Yes, Diego is with us".

The former footballer, widely recognised as one of the sport's all-time greats, has signed a three-year contract to become chairman of the top-division Belarusian side Dynamo Brest, Poland's news website reported on Wednesday.

Diego Maradona's career took another surprise turn late on Tuesday when he was announced as chairman of Belarusian club Dynamo Brest. "Diego Maradona will be in charge of the team's strategic development and will interact with all its structural subdivisions, including the Junior Academy of the football club", the press service noted.

"Thanks for the trust".

Maradona posted a picture of him signing a contract on his official Instagram page, with the caption: "I signed the contract and I AM the president of Dinamo Brest".

They are eighth in the Belarusian Premier League and face Bate Borisov in the Belarusian Cup final on Saturday.

He will assume his duties after the end of the world Cup, which will start soon in Russian Federation.
