HTC U12 gets an official launch date

HTC U12 Plus

Now that we have a launch date and (probably) most of the specs, the only thing to do is to wait for the official launch and see whether HTC has some surprises up its sleeve. According to the image, the smartphone will sport a horizontally aligned dual rear camera along with LED flash and a fingerprint sensor.

Though it appears as a sneaky move from HTC to host an event a week after the launch of OnePlus 6, it remains to be seen how the next generation U-series device will fare to the smartphone crowd.

The HC U12 Plus has been leaked previously and its expected specs are known.

Initially spotted bearing the codename "Imagine", the smartphone is expected to pack a 6-inch LCD panel on the front with WQHD+ resolution, hinting at an 18:9 or 19:9 display resolution. The phone will also be water and dust resistant (IP68). The smartphone will run Android 8.0 Oreo operating system topped with the Sense UI of the company and will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.

It will have either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, and support a microSD card. Based on the leaks, the HTC U12 comes with a single rear camera and dual front cameras. It will sport HTC USonic with Active Noise Cancellation, and HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition for an enhanced audio experience.
