Honor bets on premium smartphones, eyes spot in top 3 in India

Honor 10 launched at Rs 32,999 in India

Many fans of Huawei was looking forward to the arrival of the new flagship of Honor 10 in Russian Federation, fearing that the retail price of an advanced smartphone may be higher than expected. The Honor 10 was launched in China last month and now, the device has made its way to other countries. As part of the promotional sale campaign, the e-commerce site is offering lucrative exchange deals with up to Rs 18,000 cash discount.

For photography, the Honor 10 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 16MP RGB sensor and a 24MP monochrome sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 2x Zoom, LED flash, depth focus, PDAF and AI scene recognition that accurately identifies people, animals, grass, and sky. Axis Bank Buzz credit card holders can get an extra 5% off on the smartphone, although the maximum discount is capped at Rs.200. Powering the Honor 10 is HiSilicon's Kirin 970 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36 GHz with a Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. "Honor introduced Phantom Blue in 2016, Phantom Grey in 2017 and now the exquisite Aurora, a true breakthrough in smartphone design", said Honor President George Zhao. Customers can also opt for an exchange and get up to Rs 5,000 off over the exchange value on select devices.

The screen bears an 86.2 percent screen-to-body ratio, which provides an excellent viewing experience. Huawei is marketing the optics as AI Camera. Unlike the Honor View 10, the Honor 10 misses out on the micro SD card slot. The main camera is capable of recording native 4k videos at 30fps and can also shoot slow-motion 720p videos at 960fps. The 24MP front-facing camera also utilizes AI with Light Fusion Technology to allow users to capture great selfies even in low light. The front camera also sports Face Unlock feature.

The dual-SIM (nano) smartphone ships with an EMUI 8.1 ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Unlike the Chinese variant of the smartphone, the variant launched in India ships with Google services. In terms of dimensions, the Honor 10 measures 149.6 x 71.2 x 7.7mm and weighs in at 153 grams.

The Honor 10 may as well be one of the cheapest flagships money can buy.
