The BCCI has confirmed the participation of New Zealand captain Suzie Bates and allrounder Sophie Devine, Australia allrounder Ellyse Perry, wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy, medium-pacer Megan Schutt and batsman Beth Mooney. "This special game will be played at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium and will be telecast live in India and across the world", IPL chairman, Rajeev Shukla, said. "I think once we do separate it even more, then the skill level of T20 cricket will go to a whole new level altogether", said McCullum. England's Danielle Wyatt, who struck a blistering 124 against India in a record T20I chase in March, will also feature in the match alongside her national team-mate Danielle Hazell, who earned her career-best ODI figures during the ODI series in Nagpur.

Former skipper of India Women's cricket team and member of CoA Diana Edulji said, "We are excited to announce the first-of-its-kind exhibition match involving our women cricketers".

The kangaroos will be without their Steve Smith and David Warner during the home series against India later in the year as they will be in the middle of their one-year ban imposed on charges of ball tampering during Australia's Test series in South Africa.

The women's game has seen a wave of popularity in the country following the national team's run to the final of World Cup previous year.

"Apart from the obvious advantage of the matches being played at a more appropriate time for fans to either attend or watch on television, Day-Night Tests also conjure up intriguing cricketing possibilities".

India will be looking to launch a woman's IPL within the next three years, Committee of Administrators head Vinod Rai said on Tuesday. BCCI has been pulling out all stops to promote and nurture women's cricket and this is a small yet significant step towards a prospective league involving women's stars in the future.

With a plethora of domestic tournaments like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Big Bash League (BBL) dedicated to Twenty20 cricket, McCullum admitted that the clock is ticking in regards to Test cricket going extinct.

This match will begin at 2pm and will be followed by the Qualifier 1 at 7pm.
