Google Partners With Fandango, Lets You Buy Tickets With Assistant

Perfectly timed for Star Wars Day today (May the Fourth be with you), Google and Fandango are teaming up to provide Google Assistant users with the ability to order movie tickets by asking for them, or by typing in your request.

Google Assistant can help you do a lot of things, and now it seems that it can do one more thing which is to help users buy tickets.

Ticket purchases are facilitated through Fandango, which will allow users to buy tickets for movies now playing, or buy advance tickets for upcoming movies. The users asks Assistant for "showtimes near me", at which point a clickable chart of movies with theater/showings info are provided.

The feature is part of a partnership with Fandango, so only Fandango theatres will be supported for now. Once you do, Google Assistant on your smartphone will bring up available showtimes in your area for the movie.

To buy tickets, simply say "Hey Google, buy tickets", or "Hey Google, get me tickets for Solo: A Star Wars Story". Unfortunately, the service still requires you to interact in picking out seats and actually paying, but it can save a fair bit of time in the process of buying tickets. The feature should already be live so if you are planning on catching a movie in the near future, then this is something you'll want to take note of.
