For real royal tradition, look to crowd's taste in wedding souvenirs

Just days ahead of Meghan Markle's wedding to Prince Harry, the American actress' father Thomas Markle Sr. rescinded his invitation, opting out of the royal fête.

Markle had been due to walk his daughter down the aisle at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, the queen's home to the west of London, at a ceremony which will be attended by Britain's royals and celebrities, and in the glare of the world's media.

Thomas Markle won't be walking his daughter Meghan Markle down the aisle for her royal wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday, TMZ is reporting Monday.

Meghan Markle's family is taking full advantage of their five minutes of fame (they have five days left).

Mr Markle told TMZ he was upset over the drama being caused by his eldest daughter Samantha Grant, who has been openly critical of Meghan Markle in the media.

He added that he had repeatedly turned down offers of $50,000 to $100,000 for photos, but took up the offer from photographer Jeff Rayner. Will she draw inspiration from the glamour of her Hollywood background, or will she borrow something from Diana's wedding day style?

In the months and weeks leading up to the wedding, photogs had snapped photos of Thomas Markle reading a book about Great Britain, working out and getting fitted for a suit (presumably for the wedding).

With just four days until her wedding, it looks increasingly likely that, despite her eleventh-hour calls to persuade him, Meghan Markle won't be walked down the aisle by her father after all.

"The bad press over my father doing staged photos is my fault", Samantha tweeted on her private account, as shown by the DailyMail.

Harry will be joined by his brother and best man, Prince William at the lavish Coworth Park Hotel, while Meghan and her mother will stay at the Cliveden House Hotel.

He also said that his decision to pay for paparazzi photos of himself getting ready for the royal wedding had been "stupid" but not a big deal.

When she was then asked if she could categorically say her father did or did not receive money for the photographs, Samantha said: "I don't believe so and that was not the motive".

Some are even foregoing tradition to the wind with 14 percent saying they would go with a tea length or even shorter skirt on their wedding gown.

Cape Town - With less than a week to go until Meghan Markle weds Prince Harry, there's huge interest on who's been invited, or left off the guest list.

It seems safe to say that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be residing in fancy digs for the rest of their lives. She knows the eyes of the world are on her.

"In all of them Mr Markle appears to be unaware they are being taken", The Daily Mail writes. "It's not an easy thing to do and I think his experience and rank would make her feel less nervous - as at least one of them would know what to do".

The couple are due to Wednesday this Saturday, 19 May.
