The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the potential for flooding from heavy rain.

Forecasters are warning of flooding dangers in western North Carolina.

According to Allegheny County, flash flooding has made Valley Drive at Library Road, Route 88, impassable in Bethel Park.

Although rainfall for the month is substantially above normal in Philadelphia, and more than 5 inches above for the year, the streams and rivers aren't particularly scary looking.

In the city of Frederick, the Monocacy River was nearing flood stage Thursday morning and expected rise above it during the afternoon.

The Schuylkill is forecast to come within a half foot of flood stage at both Philadelphia and Norristown. Flash flooding can impact parts of the island that don't typically experience tidal flooding.

Residents and guests are asked to closely monitor the forecast and weather conditions. Minor flooding is forecast especially for early Thursday and Friday mornings when the tide is highest. Pile dikes are frequently just below the surface during high water and can cause serious damage to vessels attempt to move over them.
