Boss Key Productions Co-Founder Cliff Bleszinski Announces Studio's Closure

He posted a statement alongside his Twitter post, in which he announced that 14th May marks the official end of the line for Boss Key Productions.

Boss Key Productions, which was formed by ex-Epic Games and Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski, failed to find success with its first title - the fast-paced shooter LawBreakers. If you are still playing Radical Heights, don't worry because the servers for that game are still going to be up for the near future. As for Radical Heights, he admitted they were too late to jump on the Battle Royale bandwagon.

Bleszinski argued that there was, but Boss Key's other co-founder, Arjan Brussee, left at the end of the 2017 to rejoin Epic and lead work on adaptions of "Fortnite" for Apple and Android mobile devices.

It's unclear what's next for Bleszinski as he's taking some time out to reflect and spend time with his family, friends, and loved ones, but whatever does happen in his next venture, it's certain he'll come back swinging at some point. "Videogames will forever be a part of who I am and I hope to make something new again someday, however, I need to withdraw and take this time", Bleszinksi said.

The company's initial objective was the creation of a so-called "arena shooter", the project that eventually became "LawBreakers". While LawBreakers was praised by many who played it for its mechanics and take on the genre, it ultimately failed to gain even a portion of the traction that titles like Overwatch enjoyed.

KitGuru Says: Given that Radical Heights only just launched, this is fairly surprising news. However, it was clear that the game wasn't almost as much of a passion project as LawBreakers was.
