Zaha brace settles thriller with Brighton

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson

Brighton have conceded in each of their last 12 Premier League games - the longest current run without a clean sheet in the division.

Wilfried Zaha has scored twice as Crystal Palace has beaten local rival Brighton 3-2 and moved six points clear of the English Premier League relegation zone.

It is the 99th meeting between the two clubs but it was not until after Palace had stopped being known as the Glaziers and Brighton shed their short-lived Dolphins nickname that the rivalry really took hold.

Albion face the old enemy at Selhurst Park this afternoon.

"We must not allow our hearts to rule our heads to the extent that we make mistakes tactically or by showing too much emotion which maybe leads to a player getting booked or sent off which can happen in these derby games". The story goes that, having confronted the official, Mullery responded to being showered with coffee as he left the pitch by flicking V-signs, throwing coins onto the ground and shouting, "You're not worth that, Palace".

Crystal Palace are in a precarious position entering in the final stretch of matches in the Premier League. Without the 25-year-old recently, the London-based outfit have not won a Premier League game the Ivory Coast global has missed since September 2016.

James Tomkins made it 2-0 to Palace in the 14th before Brighton striker Glenn Murray reduced the deficit against his form club four minutes later.

It is, though, hard to see tomorrow passing off so quietly. If we are going to get a result that's the best way'.

"I feel like there's no need for us to have the debate".

"Options up front are a nice problem to have". The Eagles have been hindered by notable injuries over the last few months and the recent return of influential attacker Wilfried Zaha is a welcome boost.

This game saw five first-half goals, the most in any Premier League game this season. Zaha is now the league's most prolific penalty victor after he won his fourth penalty of the season against Liverpool last weekend.

Of that prospect, Hughton says: 'It would be everything.

Swansea moved five points ahead of Southampton after a 1-1 home draw with Everton.
