Tornado Drills In Minnesota And Wisconsin Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Anderson County until 10 p.m. tonight.

According to Meteorologist Patricia Sanchez, the NWS in Fort Worth is expecting these storms to bring hail and damaging winds. The tornado moving at 90 miles per hour downed trees and lines in the southwestern part of the county, no injuries were reported. There will be another mock tornado warning at 6:45 p.m.to give families and second shift workers a chance to practice their emergency plans, too.

A firefighter reported that 2.25 inches of rain had fallen near Fremaux town center in Slidell through 12:38 p.m.

Columbia and Charleston have a slight chance of severe weather, but Greenville and other upstate counties have only a marginal chance of experiencing it.

A strong cold front will move through the area this afternoon and evening accompanied by a band of showers and thunderstorms. Thursday, schools, businesses, and families took part in a statewide tornado drill. Past year the state saw its earliest tornadoes ever on March 6 when three twisters touched down near Bricelyn in Faribault County, Zimmerman in Sherburne County and Clarks Grove in Freeborn County. Flooding is listed as a lesser threat, with the exception of localized flooding from periods of heavy rain.

"We also can't rule out a tornado", Carpenter said.

The Live 5 First Alert Weather team declared Sunday a First Alert Weather Day because of the possibility of severe weather.

Areas on the radar in maroon boxes are Flash Flood Warnings. You can see the band of heavier amounts where the line of storms stalled over the area earlier today.
