Surgeon: Abby Lee Miller nearly died from spinal infection

Abby Lee Miller

Abby Lee Miller has a big fight ahead of her, because her recent health struggles are believed to be related to cancer.

It's possible that Abby could enter rehab at the end of this week, if they don't have to perform another surgery. "If we didn't do something, she was going to die", he said.

The reality star sentenced in May to one year and one day in prison, as well as a $120,000 judgement and a $40,000 fine, for bankruptcy fraud. Yesterday, she was completely numb from the neck down.

"In the span of 24 hours, which was something that I have not seen, her condition rapidly deteriorated".

Doctors said she had an infection that spread from the bottom of her neck to her lower back.

Early Tuesday, Miller underwent almost five hours of surgery to remove the back part of several vertebrae to relieve pressure on her spinal cord.

Miller is said to be in the process of recuperating from the spinal surgery with no apparent complications. Her blood pressure was bottoming out. "Usually, the rooms have doors and depending on the situation, she can either be alone or she will have to share with some people".

It's not yet known whether she will be able to walk again.

He's also unclear about what caused the issue, saying (per People), "There could be a million reasons of this".

Melamed pointed out that the case was common for smokers and diabetic patients, though he explained that Miller is in the pre-diabetic range, which means it seemed unlikely for her.

She was transferred from the FCI Victorville prison in California on March 27 to a halfway house in Long Beach; she was transferred after spending more than eight months in federal prison.

Dr. Melamed said they hope to "start mobilizing her, start thinking about the rehab, start pushing the body, pushing the brain and spinal cord for making recovery".
