Sony's Xperia XZ2 Premium makes the two-month-old XZ2 redundant

Sony's dual camera Xperia XZ2 Premium takes ultra-low-light photos

We thought Sony Mobile had been rather quiet over this morning's emergence of the new Xperia XZ2 Premium and now we've official confirmation that the handset won't be launching in the UK.for now. Details from both sensors are then processed by the AUBE™ fusion image signal processor in real time, enabling video recording with the highest ISO12800 sensitivity ever in a smartphone (as well as an ultra sensitive ISO51200 for photos). The ultra-high sensitivity settings is usually found only on professional interchangeable lens camera systems. The dual camera, by the way, has one color lens and a monochrome lens.

Those two features work together to capture more than the human eye can see. The dual lens system will also enable the popular bokeh effect for photos shot with Sony's camera, however, it will be made available sometime after launch in Q3 this year.

Just like its predecessor, the Xperia XZ Premium, this one also features a 4K display. The phone has a 4K HDR screen, Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6 GB RAM and the ability to capture photos and videos in extremely low-lit environments. The Xperia XZ2 Premium also shoots 4K videos with HDR and it can also record 960fps super slow-mo videos up to Full HD resolution.

Sony is pushing a new "Dynamic Vibration System" for this phone, which supposedly analyzes audio data from videos and games to let you "feel the action in your hands". XZ2 Premium creates a cinema-like audio effect when you're sharing your favourite videos with your friends thanks to its powerful front facing stereo speakers. Now, the Japanese technology major has silently added another smartphone to the lineup in the form of Xperia XZ2 Premium. It has a 3D glass surface which surrounds the exterior, creating a seamless finish that's comfortable to hold and easy to carry. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back. Certified IP65/IP68 [iii], XZ2 Premium is also created to withstand splashes and spills. The smartphone comes in chrome black and chrome silver colors that change when exposed to light. It also has with Smart Stamina and STAMINA modes for those moments when you want to squeeze every last minute out of your remaining charge. Battery Care [v] and Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology help the battery stay healthy to give you a longer battery lifespan.

It also shares its sibling's support for a USB-C headphone connection, dropping the traditional 3.5mm jack à la Apple's latest iPhone and the Google Pixel.

Under the hood, the XZ2 Premium is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
