Salah prioritises Champions League over 40-goal-record

Salah scored again over the weekend in the Reds' 3-0 victory over Bournemouth to bring up his 40th goal of the season across all competitions.

Quoted by Voce Giallorossa, Grobbelaar believes this is Liverpool's year, and they will win their sixth European crown. "I'm sure he'll keep doing that for the rest of the season".

He is only the third Liverpool player to hit the mark and the first since Ian Rush in 1986-87.

Salah's goal, his 30th in the league, not only increased his advantage over Harry Kane in the golden boot race, but also strengthened Liverpool's grip on a top-four finish as they re-established their 10-point cushion over fifth-placed Chelsea. That's not me just being a rose-tinted Liverpool idiot (though yeah, I'm that too), that's a striker recognising class in front of goal. But let's see! It's still - I don't know how many games there is to go - but we have the Premier League and semi-finals of the Champions League to play.

Although he is focused on team trophies, the forward admitted the Golden Boot was in his thoughts.

Asked about his desire to be the Premier League's top goal scorer, Salah said: "I can not lie, it is in my mind. But you can see against Bournemouth that everyone in the team tries to pass the ball to me to help me", said the 25-year-old.

"He tried to motivate us like usually and in the end everybody was in the right place at the right time to win every ball".

Klopp showed his intent from the off at Anfield by making just one change from the side that beat City 2-1 at the Etihad in midweek as captain Jordan Henderson returned from suspension.

And Salah admits the award is in the back of his mind. Klopp added on the need to break his trophy duck: "I love watching that kind of football but I don't want to be the entertainer or whatever and it is like, "Oh we had fun but we didn't win anything".
