Gianluigi Buffon lost his cool at the end of Juventus tie with Real Madrid

Her husband refereed the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final between Real Madrid and Juventus.

Zinedine Zidane's men were awarded an injury-time penalty, which Cristiano Ronaldo converted perfectly to take the reigning champions through to the last four.

Buffon gave extensive interviews after the game including saying that Oliver had a "rubbish bin where his heart should be" and claiming that he was not fit to referee the game.

Former Juve captain Del Piero has since been criticised by fans of the Serie A champions and the 43-year-old used Twitter to hit back.

But Allegri said Buffon's outburst was "understandable" after Oliver "slightly lost his way" in a tense finale.

'The content remains and I stand by all of it, I had to let that out, even if it damaged my reputation.

Buffon broke his silence Sunday, however, the veteran was unremorseful for his scathing criticism of Oliver at the Santiago Bernabeu.

After penalising Medhi Benatia's challenge on Lucas Vasquez, Oliver suddenly found himself surrounded by incensed Juve players, with an irate Buffon front and centre.

After angrily remonstrating at Oliver's decision to award a penalty against Juventus in the dying stages of the game, Buffon was shown a red card.

"Someone has to pay, as everyone pays", Buffon told reporters after the game.

"I'm sure Oliver will have a great career in future, but he's too young to officiate a match like that", the goalkeeper added. "When I don't feel I'm good enough, I put myself in a corner".

"Before being a Juventino, I am an Italian, and I really cared about Italian football doing well". I felt defrauded of a night that can never be repeated'. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the penalty and Juventus were gone too.

"It hurts to get knocked out like that but I'm proud of this team".

'It wasn't a situation where you could say: "That is definitely a penalty".

Whilst Buffon's moment of madness might not have been in such a huge moment or made such a big difference to the outcome the Italian legend did look a lot worse for screaming at the referee. Following the result, Buffon launched a scathing attack on Oliver's decision.
