Rob Gronkowski confirms he will play next season

Tom Brady of the New England Patriots celebrates with trainer Alex Guerrero after defeating the New York Jets 22-17 at Met Life Stadium on Nov. 27 2016

For the Patriots, it's a disaster averted.

Gronkowski announced his return on Instagram. "We fought all year long, all the receivers, running backs, linemen, we put all the work in together, so I'm just going to reflect on the season, proud of the boys, and just see what happens". "Looking forward to another championship run", Gronkowski said. As he made it official on Tuesday, after talking to coaches and his agent, he made the decision.

Don Yee is Brady's longtime agent and he spoke with ESPN's Adam Schefter about speculation last week that Brady might not want to play afterall.

Against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, he scored two touchdowns, while recording 116 receiving yards on nine receptions.

Brady said before the Patriots' Super Bowl loss that he would play next season but Schefter reported last week that Brady still hadn't committed to a return. A couple of weeks turned into months.

Brady did not report to Foxborough for the beginning of the team's offseason program. Instead, the tight end has been working out at the TB12 Center, which is in Patriot Place and next to the stadium.

After Gronk's freakish appearance Saturday at Gillette Stadium to promote Monster Energy Supercross, this likely cleared the air and mended a few fences if there was a need with Belichick.

The New England Patriots have the weakest schedule for the second year in a row this upcoming season, according to the Washington Post. Gronkowski now has two years left on his deal. He's set to count as a $22-million cap hit this year and next.

You can put an end to all the rumors and speculation about Rob Gronkowski's future. The team has been connected to almost a dozen tight end prospects leading up to this draft.
