PM Modi reaches out to Dalits, invokes Ambedkar at Bastar event

PM must take decisive actions to ensure women children safety DCW chief

The lady was one of the thousands of women covered under the scheme launched more than a decade earlier to provide slippers to people engaged in collecting Tendu leaves in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing the gathering during Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister assured that justice will be served to the daughters of the country. "Now these communities are becoming aware about their rights and getting ambitious with hopes and aspirations'", the PM said.

According to Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, Modi is the first Prime Minister to visit Bijapur.

"I would like to ask the youth on the path of violence that the Constitution takes care of your rights". While launching the scheme he said, "In around 1.5 lakh villages, sub centres and primary health centres will be developed as Health and Wellness centres". But at least think about those who are leading them. Referring to the far-reaching decisions taken by Ambedkar, especially for women and the poor, Kovind said it was Ambedkar who pushed for the rights of women in property and universal suffrage among other progressive legislations.

He said over 100 districts in the country including Chattisgarh's Bijapur were backward even 70 years after the Independence.

But still, these issues do not seem appropriate enough to be addressed by our very own Prime Minister who calls himself 'Pradhan Sevak (Prime Servant)' of the country.

He also inaugurated a new rail line and a passenger train between Gudum and Bhanupratapur, bringing north Bastar region on railways' map. The strong words from the Prime Minister also had immediate effect as the two BJP ministers from the state of Jammu and Kashmir resigned. The footwear was presented under the Charan-Paduka (footwear) Scheme. Singh dubbed Prime Minister's visit as a historical moment for Chhattisgarh, saying it would inspire the state to fasten its pace of development. "They are not residents of your state, keep themselves safe but get your children killed", Modi said.
