Virginia State Police, the FAA and NTSB will be continuing the investigation Monday (April 16) into the cause of the fatal plane crash that occurred in Albemarle County on Sunday.

Sgt. Orlando Moreno with Texas Department of Public Safety said that the fire that started from the crash didn't spread because it wasn't very windy Sunday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the Experimental Challenger II aircraft took off from a private airstrip around 8:00 p.m.

The DPS identified the victims as Clayton Sides, 25, of Dimmitt and Thomas Jacob Hefner, 25 of Bovina.

Investigators began looking for the aircraft when they discovered it didn't land in any nearby airports.

Emergency crews recovered one body from the crash, and authorities do not believe anyone else had been on board the plane. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
