Man arrested for mercilessly beating a woman on a running local train

The incident took place in handicapped compartment of CST-bound train between Kalyan and Dadar between 11 pm and 11.22 pm as the other passengers watched in horror

As per reports, the train was plying from Thane to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station. At one point, the woman comes dangerously close to the open gate while attempting to escape.

A video of the incident shot by a handicapped co-passenger went viral on Friday morning.

A horrific video has surfaced showing a man mercilessly beating up a woman on board a Mumbai local train Thursday, April 5. According to The Times of India, the man owed the woman money and attacked her after an altercation over it.

According to police, the accused and the victim woman had known each other for the last few years and the woman used to lend him money on a friendly basis. The man beat up the woman in the local train between Thane-CST on Thursday night.

The co-passengers in the local train informed the Dadar police who then arrested the man. When the complainant resisted and started hitting Shaikh back, he tore off parts of her clothes and dragged her to the door of the running train. As per reports, the coach was for the specially abled so none of the passengers could come to her rescue. "I being 90 percent disabled could not do much to help as there was a threat to my life if I intervened", Samir Zaveri, an eyewitness, was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Zaveri added that though he asked the security person, who was in the women's section of the divided compartment, to pull the emergency alarm but he did not respond.

On duty GRP officer at Dadar station later took the accused into custody and initiated investigation in the matter.
