J.Cole and Drake announce date for new albums

American hip-hop artist J. Cole performs at Barclays Center of Brooklyn

"I will be featured on J Cole's album", he said to his followers earlier tonight.

Following the tradition of announcing new projects at a moment's notice, a marketing style that has worked for the likes of Beyonce. Cole surprised New York City fans Monday night (April 16) with a free show, performing his upcoming record in its entirety for the lucky few. It served as an album listening party rather than a concert, and as such, no phones or cameras were allowed in the venue. No bags. No press list.

The tactic is not new to Cole: He stealth-dropped his third album "2014 Forest Hills Drive", and announced the release of his fourth album, 2016's "4 Your Eyes Only", with just an iTunes pre-order page.

On top of that, MissInfo reports that the album has three different subtitles and suggests that there are 12 songs on it. It's set to land on April 20.

As we get closer to the date, look out for a single or any new teases from J. Cole prior to the Friday release. The captions of both photos are "June 2018".

Rap fans of the world rejoice.
