IPL 2018: Dinesh Karthik Stands by Decisions Despite KKR Losing to SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded their first IPL win at the Eden Gardens with absolute ease when they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets here on Saturday. It was skipper Kane Williamson, who held their innings together with a 44-ball 50.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (capt, wk), Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Mitchell Johnson, Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Shivam Mavi.

Recovering from a sore back, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4-0-26-3) led the Sunrisers attack with his awesomely accurate bowling, while Billy Stanlake and Shakib too played important roles taking two wickets apiece. Another ex-KKR player, Shakib Al Hasan, had a productive day with figures of 2 for 21 that included a sharp caught-and-bowled effort. Should they be asked to bat first at Kolkata, it would completely change the equation they are used to. The batting line up did chip in by chasing the total but it was the bowlers, who have managed to pull the reins on the opposition on both occasions.

KKR captain Dinesh Karthik was not happy with his batsman. Bhuvneshwar returned to the Sunrisers line-up in place of Sandeep Sharma, who had replaced him in the last game. Siddharth Kaul and Rashid Khan have also been fantastic. Curran came into the team due to Johnson suffering a niggle, and now KKR have to decide which pacer to play. Conceding just a single in the first over of the game, he quickly gave Sunrisers the breakthrough after Lynn smashed Stanlake for three fours in the previous over. The former has taken two wickets in each match while maintaining a low economy, while the latter has gone through his overs in miserly fashion as well.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are going through a wonderful phase and have won both their matches.

All-rounder Shakib kept the squeeze on, ending the promoted Sunil Narine's short and scratchy innings, and claiming the big wicket of Lynn with a superb one-handed grab off his own bowling.

Less than 48 hours later, they will be playing at Eden Gardens in Kolkata as the matches keep coming thick and fast in the IPL.
