Arsenal blew a flawless opportunity to take control of our Europa League semi-final after somehow drawing 1-1 with 10-man Atletico Madrid at the Emirates tonight.

A late goal from Antoine Griezmann earns 10-man Atletico Madrid a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final at the Emirates Stadium.

The LaLiga side played nearly 80 minutes with 10 men, as the referee sent off Sime Vrsaljko for two bookable offences.

Arsenal indeed seemed "Thunderstruck" as Burgos' touchline badgering of the referee and urging on of his side kept the 10 men well in the tie ahead of next Thursday's second leg at Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano.

Alexandre Lacazette broke the deadlock for Arsenal with a fine header after Jack Wilshere's cross from the left.

Then sensationally, Simeone was told to leave the bench after he reacted furiously to a foul by Arsenal's Hector Bellerin.

Monreal also watched on as a right-footed volley went agonisingly wide of the far post and Atletico remaining on level terms eventually resulted in the Spaniards showing more ambition in the final third.

However, shortly after the hour mark, Arsenal finally found the breakthrough.

Ospina missed the quarter finals against CSKA Moscow, but started every other Europa League match for Arsenal besides the games against Red Star Belgrade.
