Verma was returning home accompanied by a friend and a bodyguard from an event at Chandigarh's Elante mall.

However, a man by the name of Dilpreet Singh Dhahan is claiming to be behind Verma's shooting. Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Chahal was quoted saying, "Some unidentified persons fired shots at Parmish last night at Sector 91 in Mohali when he was returning home". Both of them are out of danger and are undergoing treatment in Fortis Hospital, Mohali.

The post was shared on Facebook more than 3,000 times and received over 8,000 likes.

His Facebook status says, "Bure hai ham tabhi to zinda hai ache hote to duniya jeene nhi dete" (We are bad that's why we are alive, if we were good, the world would not have let us live).

In the post, the gangster also said that the singer had a choice of whether he wanted to "listen to others". He updated his Facebook status with a picture of himself holding a gun and a cross against Verma's face.

Punjab police are investigating two gangsters who claimed responsibility on Saturday for the attack.

Verma is likely to be provided police protection following the attack. "Cyber experts of the district police are trying to find the from where the post was uploaded and whether it is authentic or it was an attempt to distract the police investigation", he reportedly added.

Interestingly, the police is yet to take an action on Dhahan for his post, with sources telling Hindustan Times that they would "go according to their own investigation". His smash hit "Gaal ni kadni" was released past year and had been viewed over 118 million times on YouTube.
