Colin and Michael, who are co-head writers of "SNL", and anchor the weekly "Weekend Update" segment, will no doubt bring the laughs as they hit the podium to honor the best in television on Monday, Sept. 17 at 8 PM ET.

"NBC is thrilled to be the home of this year's Emmy Awards and with Colin and Michael in the driver's seat as hosts", said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt in a statement.

Paul Telegdy, president, alternative and reality group, NBC Entertainment, added, "We're proud of our deep comedy roster at NBC, and Michael and Colin - along with the return of king of comedy producer Lorne Michaels - will make this the must-see comedy event of the year".

SNL creator and producer Lorne Michaels will also serve as an executive producer for the award show. NBC clearly hopes SNL's recently resurgent success will draw in new Emmy viewers.

The duo, who anchor Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update", will share emcee duties at the awards show that honors TV excellence and will air live from the Microsoft Theater in L.A. on September 17 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Both Jost, 35, and Che, 34, are Emmy-nominated themselves and started working on "SNL" in 2005 and 2013, respectively.

Alumni of the late-night show have hosted the Emmys, including Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.

The Emmys are about to get a little taste of "Weekend Update". The men were both named co-head writers of the show previous year. "They have an fantastic onscreen rapport and we are delighted to begin working with them along with the entire NBC team".

When it comes to the annual Primetime Emmy Awards telecast, the major broadcast networks take turns handling production and distribution of the television awards show extravaganza.
