It is the second earliest date that the Premier League title has been sealed and City could still set several records before the end of an impressive campaign.

"People are asking whether we are the best Premier League side in history, but the answer is no, because we have a lot of work to still do".

15 - Kevin De Bruyne, a strong contender for Player of the Year honours, has been an unstoppable creative force in his third season with the club, contributing a league-best 15 assists in his 33 appearances. They deserve all my respect. They've been by far the best team in the league.

"He is still the one player that all the other City players love, respect and look up to because of what he has achieved in the game".

Guardiola's side arrived at Wembley on the back of three successive defeats, which saw them dumped out of the Champions League by Liverpool and miss the chance to seal the Premier League title by beating United.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany on Sky Sports: "We were consistent the whole season and were able to play at the level we were expected to perform at".

"As much as I'm going to celebrate today, I'm going to see if any of the lads are still up for it on Wednesday for us to have a good training session and build up to the next games as well".

Jose Mourinho criticised his United players following the result, saying: "I won eight titles and I'm not on the moon because I won against Manchester City, a match that is just three points. I've never retained the title and I want to see if this team has got it to carry on and be even more successful". Previous times, we almost threw it away and that was a feature of every season we won it.

They've now won three of the last seven PL titles available.

He was particularly wasteful against United last weekend when missing two one-on-ones, which proved costly as City squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.

"We have a second chance against Swansea and we're going to try and be champions", he said. Man City's Kevin De Bruyne acknowledges the tiredness within the squad and how important it was to see off Spurs after a hard string of matches. It is possible to win the league that way.
