Brooke Henderson takes Lotte Championship lead

Sixteen people died when a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos, a junior team in the Saskatchewan league, crashed last week when a tractor trailer collided with it. Henderson played her rounds with green and yellow ribbon in her hair, the teams colors.

Her second-round three-over-par 75 followed her opening 70 to leave her one over and in a share of 32 place.

At the halfway point, she was 10 under, bogey-free and two shots ahead.

In its seventh year, the Lotte Championship at Ko Olina Golf Club has a seventh different victor.

Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn, South Korea's Inbee Park and China's Shanshan Feng, the world's top-ranked player, tied for third place at 7 under.

One who won't be thrilled is Queenslander Sarah Jane Smith who made four late bogeys in her second round to drop from even par to four over, agonisingly on the wrong side of the cut mark.

The LPGA Tour now moves to Los Angeles for the inaugural HUGEL-JTBC LA Open at the Wilshire Country Club.

Munoz and Jutanugarn put together the only serious charges of the final round.

"Watching Pernilla Lindberg win her first major two weeks ago now, it was actually a lot of motivation and it really inspired me", Henderson described. Starting the day with just a one-shot lead after struggling down the stretch Friday, Henderson pushed her advantage to three strokes at the turn thanks to two circles on her card.

Park, though, would three putt herself at the final two holes of today's final round and when Henderson birdied the 14th and 16th she had established a margin that would ensure her walk over the final two holes would be a comfortable and enjoyable one.

Hawaii's Michelle Wie had a 71 to tie for 11th at 3-under. Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Que., tied for 50th at 5-over.
