BJP marks 38th foundation day in state

Nationwide strike called by several Dalit organisations in Kasba Bonli in Rajasthan

On a day BJP president Amit Shah derided the Opposition's unity moves as a motley group of animals during a flood, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged his party workers to "never lower political discourse, keep focused on your work of transforming India".

The BJP chief also targeted the opposition parties over the washout of the Budget Session of the Parliament due to continuing protests and disruptions.

While on April 6 last year, the BJP headquarters had been abuzz with hundreds of karyakartas welcoming former Congressman Vishwajit Rane into the party fold, this year there was little enthusiasm. Rahul and (NCP chief Sharad) Pawar, listen. BJP will never end the reservation policy.

He was addressing a mega rally of party workers at the BKC grounds in suburban Mumbai on the occasion of the 38th Foundation Day of the party. The BJP chief backtracked his comment an hour later saying that what he implied was parties with different ideologies are joining together to contest next election against BJP and Narendra Modi. "BJP's golden period will come when we will have governments in West Bengal and Odisha and retain power in 2019 with absolute majority", said Shah exhorting partymen to prepare for the next Lok Sabha polls.

"In four years of rule, BJP has worked tirelessly for welfare of Dalits, under-privileged, illiterates. In fact, we have gained more allies than we have lost", he added.

The public thinks the Congress' decades of rule was inefficient, Shah said. He said, "Mr Shah knows that people are asking his party questions. The only reason is that our rivals are unable to digest the BJP's rising strength", he said.

"You decide the venue, I am ready for a debate".

The government has moved the apex court seeking a review of its March 20 judgement on the Act, while the BJP has charged the opposition with playing politics over the sensitive issue.

Shah also stressed that the BJP wanted Shiv Sena to be its ally even in 2019.

On Modi's vision for "new India", Gadkari said, "For New India, we need research, and technology". He said, it is party's commitment that it will continue to devote itself towards India's transformation. In 10 days, Modi made a decision to send our jawans into Pakistan for a surgical strike.

Shah's arrival in the city resulted in traffic snarls on the Western Express Highway last night, as 25,000 local BJP workers took out a three-kilometre-long rally - including 10,000 bikers and several vehicle drivers - to welcome him.

Owing to the relentless efforts of the karyakartas all across the country, Prime Minister said that while NDA is recognized as serial victor, UPA is identified as a serial lier.
