Biplab Kumar Deb's yet another gem: Hunting for jobs? Rear a cow

Biplab Deb

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today called for a change in mindset among the states youth and urged them to pursue entrepreneurship, instead of running after government jobs.

According to a report, the Chief Minister suggested that the young minds should focus on becoming an entrepreneur rather than unnecessarily running behind the government sector jobs. "Had a graduate who has been searching for employment in the last 10 years reared a cow, then their bank balance would have been Rs 10 lakh by now", he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. Days after a full-blown controversy took place over his critique of model-actor Diana Hayden's looks, the Tripura Chief Minister has spoken out again. Deb told the youth of the state to become self-employed by starting various projects in the animal resource sector, with bank loans under the Prime Minister's Mudra scheme. "The satellite also existed during that period". At a public event, Deb said, "India has been using internet since ages. Every Indian woman is attractive and anyone who has won the title of Miss World or Miss Universe from India has represented our country in the truest sense".

Earlier this week, Deb claimed that the global beauty pageants were a farce and questioned the rationale behind crowning Diana Hayden "Miss World" 21 years ago. And soon after that, he landed in a controversy and had to apologise for hinting that actress and model Diana Hayden didn't have the qualities of an Indian lovely woman to be crowned Miss World in 1997. "Aishwarya Rai's victory was well deserved as she represents the quintessential Indian woman".

The chief minister, while addressing a gathering organised to mark civil service day in Agartala, advised mechanical engineers to not appear in any civil service examinations. Instead, civil engineers should join civil services as they have the knowledge and experience to help build administration and society'.

Of late, the Tripura chief minister has been in the news for his unusual pronouncements.
