Bellator 198: Conor McGregor 'proud' of Dillon Danis after MMA debut

Fedor Emelianenko Bellator

Bellator 198 went down earlier tonight (Sat., April 28, 2018) live on Paramount Network from inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, where former Pride FC champion Fedor Emelianenko collide with former UFC champion Frank Mir in the third quarterfinal of the heavyweight Grand Prix.

Putin has attended Emelianenko's fights, and the 41-year-old fighter has been photographed with the Russian president.

Official Result - Fedor Emelianenko Defeats Frank Mir by TKO (Punches) at 0:48 of Round One.

Sonnen may have got the crowd booing with an insult-laden faceoff after Bellator 198's headliner, but Emelianenko didn't exactly take him seriously.

Emelianenko, who also had to deal with travel issues, said he leaned on his faith to get through the week.

Emelianenko bounces back after a knockout loss to Matt Mitrione at Bellator NYC in June 2017.

The Russian Fedor was stunned within the opening seconds of the Bellator heavyweight grand-prix encounter but was able to collect himself before catching Mir as he moved in to seal the deal.

Talking to Bellator commentator "Big" John McCarthy, Emelianenko was his usual humble self, thanking God for the win and saying he feels "great joy and happiness". "I think that's the way he attracts extra attention to his fights and his performances".

"To tell you the truth, I believe that Chael is a good person, because when we meet each other in some place or in the hotel, we actually communicate in a very good and friendly manner. Because I know him from an absolutely different side". He did his best to back up those bold statements after the fight with an interview that surely would've made the absent McGregor proud.
