Swedish EDM DJ Avicii has died at the age of 28, according to a statement released by his publicist on Friday. He had suffered from an acute pancreatitis reportedly due to excessive drinking. This is is our tribute to him, it's a 60-minute selection of our favorites.

Leo Varakdar took to his Twitter late last night and said: "So sorry to hear of the untimely passing of Avicii".

At 11am on Saturday, the tower's 13 bells rang out to the tune of Wake Me Up, Without You and Hey Brother.

Zedd wrote: "No words can describe the sadness I'm feeling right now, hearing about Avicii passing away. My condolences go out to his family, friends and fans x". It was not the shows and not the music. I've been DJIng a few years now and his tracks always get the entire crowd jumping with absolute joy. a true trailblazer. It caused him to have his gallbladder and appendix removed four years ago.

His fans' unyielding devotion had made Avicii reluctant to retire from touring, despite his fame. "It was always the other stuff surrounding it that never came naturally to me", he told Billboard magazine of his decision to quit touring in 2016.

"All the other parts of being an artist". I'm happier than I have been in a very, very long time.

"Two weeks ago, I took the time to drive across the USA with my friends and team, to just look and see and think about things in a new way", he penned.
