Android 8.1 Oreo officially rolls out for OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 5

OnePlus 5T Sandstone White Review

OnePlus on Sunday announced that it is rolling out the latest OxygenOS 5.1.0 OTA update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. However, OnePlus 5 and 5T owners who don't receive the update in the first day shouldn't worry because the update will arrive to their smartphones in the nearby future.

Back in December 2017, OnePlus introduced iPhone X like gestures to the OnePlus 5T in an Open Beta version of OxygenOS.

The face of Oreo Update in Android smartphones has begun to a full stretch.

"As always, this OTA will be incremental".

Having said that, the biggest change for the OnePlus 5T users with this update lies in navigation gestures, as they're finally available in a stable build. Navigation gestures have been available in OxygenOS Open Beta builds for the OnePlus 5T for a while now, and you can now use them in a stable build as well. Just tap on System updates, and the phone will check if the update is available for your phone. This update will also boost the network of gaming apps.

The updates come with new features and bug fixes as well.

OnePlus has started sending out OxygenOS 5.1.0 for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The update pauses adaptive brightness, which means the phone will be uniformly bright throughout a gaming session. The new gaming mode provides new optimizations including power saving features. OnePlus has also made changes to the Launcher, which now has category tags in the search section of the drawer app.

Ahead of the teasers on the upcoming new OnePlus 6, the company has released the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based updates to the last year's flagship models. The OnePlus 5T will also automatically name folders based on category going forward, similarly to iOS and other Android phones on the market.
