Analyzing the Quarterback class in the 2018 draft

Cleveland's general manager is considering "all options" - including trading the pick or selecting Penn State running back Saquon Barkley.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Browns general manager John Dorsey is old-school cool, from his wardrobe to keeping his plans for the upcoming National Football League draft private.

Since they now have the No. 1 and No. 4 overall pick in a historically good quarterback draft class, some have wondered if the Browns could use both selections on QBs.

That means two top-4 picks in this year's draft would sit the bench the entire season, neither guaranteed a starting job in Year 2, either.

USC quarterback Sam Darnold was also rumored to have said something to that effect during the season, though he strenuously denied it.

In a quarterback-rich draft, the Browns could very well drop down a spot or two, save a few bucks and still get a quality QB.

"You're getting an every-down starter and a player that brings intangibles and leadership and a work ethic that you rarely find in a player who's your most talented player on the football team".

The Baltimore Ravens are in a position no team really wants to be in. But I think he's going to be better than the three receivers that went in the top-10 previous year.

Running with the narrative that they will take a quarterback, Baker Mayfield is one they shouldn't rule out just yet. One person I spoke with mentioned how many unintended consequences you'd face if you upended the draft in such a way (specifically in the far-fetched scenario in which they took two passers in the top four), but that he'd still thought about it plenty. A successful draft could make them contenders in a recently revolving NFC East. Additionally, they need help on special teams returning punts and kickoffs. "If you go to a team like that, obviously, they've had some rough years. Mike Gesicki from Penn State to Dallas Goedert from South Dakota St., one if not both could be there at 30 and would be a good complement to Rudolph for '18 and ultimately take over the role in '19". "I think maybe we know more information about those particular players more so than others". Can he throw the ball in the red zone in tight windows? Miller's athletic profile is most comparable to Eric Fisher, the tackle John Dorsey selected first overall during his time as Kansas City Chiefs GM.

"I don't think that's any message to anyone", Browns coach Hue Jackson said on April 17.

Sports Illustrated set up the opportunity for Barkley to meet Martin, and the two played chess together at a members-only club.
