AI flight faces turbulence, leaves 3 passengers injured; window panel comes off

Watch Here’s how 3 passengers of Air India injured due to turbulence

The three passengers who were injured were not seriously hurt but were treated upon landing for minor injuries.

The clip, circulated among WhatsApp groups and other social media platforms, shows an airhostess trying to fix the panel that came off and pacifying an elderly woman passenger seated next to the window.

An investigation has now been launched by aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB).

Screaming passengers were left praying for their lives after turbulence cracked a plane's window shortly after take-off. The aircraft, which was flying from Amritsar in Punjab and had over 240 passengers on board, was also damaged.

Recently, there was a shocking incident on a domestic American airline: after an engine burst, the shrapnel had shattered an aircraft window and a woman passenger was nearly sucked out. The "clear air turbulence" lasted around 10-15 minutes.

The packed plane was rocked by the massive turbulence for more than half of the journey and the 240 passengers on the plane were visibly terrified, with some in tears. Yet another passenger hit her head on the overboard cabin because her seat belt was not fastened.

In a video released by news agency ANI, an air hostess onboard Boeing 787 Dreamliner (VTANI) is seen fixing the window panel which fell on a woman passenger.

Harpreet AD Singh, the Head of Flight Safety at Air India: "We want to get to the bottom of the severe turbulence to try and understand what happened". A few oxygen masks also dropped from the overhead panel during this period.

According to reports, one of the passengers was injured as he was not wearing his seatbelt.

The turbulence left at least three people with minor injuries and caused a window panel inside the aircraft to break away, said four airline officials.
