Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with AI Dual Camera Launched in China

The Redmi Note 5 is, in fact, the Redmi 5 Plus re-branded for the Indian market.

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro are available for online purchase via a weekly flash sale.

Redmi 5 comes with a 5.7-inch "full-screen" HD+ IPS LCD display with a 720x1440 pixel resolution and 282ppi pixel density. Notably, Xiaomi launched its latest Redmi 5 yesterday exclusively on Amazon. The Note 5 is the successor to Redmi Note 4, which was announced in January a year ago, but has improved on many fronts. The phone seems like an upgraded Redmi Note 5 Pro with a handful of significant upgrades. The new device sports 5.99-inch fullHD+ screens with 18:9 aspect ratios, covered with reflective Gorilla Glass, which hampers sunlight visibility. There are two 64 GB eMMC 5.1 models that respectively feature 4 GB and 6 GB of LPRDDR4X RAM. Both the phones will be available in as many as four colours: black, gold, rose gold and blue.

Lastly, the Chinese model comes with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box running underneath MIUI 9 and also support for Project Treble while the Indian model ships with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It offers 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB of internal storage. It is also crafted with a metal unibody design and is powered by a Quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 chipset with an Adreno 308 GPU to take care of the graphics. All the versions of the Redmi 5 will support expandable storage of up to 128GB via a hybrid micro-SD card slot. Talking about optics, there's a 13MP primary snapper with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP secondary snapper with an f/2.0 aperture. As for the front camera, it is a 5-megapixel variant with f/2.0 aperture, face recognition, and selfie countdown features. The base variant which features 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage costs 1099 yuan ($173 / Rs 11,270), the 4GB RAM+64GB storage model is priced at ($221 / Rs 14,345), and lastly, the 6GB RAM variant will be available for 1699 yuan ($268 / Rs 17,420). The smartphone houses a 4,000 mAh battery and comes equipped with a rear mounted fingerprint sensor.
