Teen's Viral 'Act Of Kindness' Gains Her A College Scholarship

Waitress Evoni Williams worked the hectic morning shift at the Waffle House in La Marque, Texas, saving up for college. "Her act of kindness went viral on social media, and today Texas Southern University returned that act of kindness by surprising Evoni Williams with a scholarship", they said.

A teenager from Houston, Texas, was honored for her act of kindness after she took the time to help an elderly patron in need at the La Marque Waffle House, the restaurant she works at.

The photo immediately went viral, with over 98,000 reactions and almost 50,000 shares.

"He was like, 'My hands are not functioning too well.' He needed me to cut his food".

According to Laura Wolf, who posted the image on Facebook, Evoni immediately took his plate and began cutting his food for him. "I'm thankful to have seen this act of kindness and caring at the start of my day while everything in this world seems so negative", Wolf wrote in her post.

It eventually caught the eye of Texas Southern University, and they made a decision to present Evoni with a $16,000 scholarship. Despite the attention, she said she felt it was the right thing to do.

Williams, who saw Charpentier's plight, offered to help cut up the meal for him. "It just came from the heart", Williams said.

"It's something I would do any other day", Williams explained. "She has the character of the type of students we want at Texas Southern University".

She's been working there since graduating high school, saving up for college, KTRK reported.
